Math????

Who on earth would want to write a blog about math? Well, apparently yours truly thinks it's a good idea, but I couldn't really tell you why.

Math was my favorite subject in grade school, middle school, high school, and I studied it in college.  But I still am not entirely sure what it is about math that I like so much.  Since graduating from college, I've missed studying it so much that I've taken to reading books about it.  Now, there are a lot of people out there who think that the only books about math out there are text books, and who on earth would spend their time reading text books?  (I actually do, sometimes, but that's besides the point.)

There are, however, a plethora of books that are about math that don't have all that confusing, technical jargon in them, and they've given me an even greater taste for that complicated, extra-dimensional world of math.  And have also helped me realize that even though I can say I have a degree in math, I know barely anything about it.  It's a universe in itself.  (See Wolfram's dictionary of mathematical concepts and terms to understand what I mean.  It's phenomenal.)  And, like our own universe, it's constantly expanding.  I, with all my knowledge of algebra and calculus and ordinary differential equations, have wriggled maybe my big toe in that huge pool of infinity.

Since I enjoy playing in this other world, I figured maybe other people might also.  So, feel free to join me as I learn, and pitch in with topic suggestions any time.
